The Siren Dancers present solo & group Bellydance performances, and theatrical shows, tailored to your specific event.

The Siren Dancers dance repertoire takes in a range of Belly Dance, from the Egyptian traditional, and authentic Turkish style to folkloric styles, modern presentations, and fusion (blended with other dance forms).

We are looking for Dance Enthusiasts and Dancers who want performance opportunities and experience, and celebrate our mutual passion in the Belly Dance.

We train Bellydance enthusiasts toward the goal of performing, and celebrating the joy of this enchanting art form.

We also work with Belly Dancers who have previously performed, refining their technique and style, and challenging them to take it to the next level.

Our passion is to develop talent and produce shows that will enchant the audiences. We are passionate about empowerment of women and presenting this beautiful dance as an art form.

OUR MISSION
Our mission is to continue growing The Sirens as a professional Dance Group. We are working toward the goal of producing sponsored Theatrical Shows. 

How Do We Do That?
• We provide on-going training
• We provide many performance opportunities to our Dancers, for experience and growth
• We provide coaching and consulting in a sisterhood environment

THE TRAINING
 The Training consists of group classes, workshops, private instructions, rehearsals, and performance opportunities.

Recent Performances
Siren Dancers' 2010-2011 some performance venues were The Hill Lounge, NYC, Sullivan Room, NYC, Marco polo Cruises, NYC, Ya Hala, NJ, Spice of India, Nyack,NY, Grisly Pear, NYC and Lafayette Grill, NYC.

Workshops
You are required to take choreography workshops for 
each group performance. Choreography workshops are 
$40 for 1.5 hour at the Nyack location. A videotape of 
the choreography may be provided to the attendees to 
help you rehearse on your own. 

We also offer other workshops to help you with technique,
 styling, musicality, use of props, etc, at several locations 
in NY and NJ, prices vary and attendance is not mandatory.

Private lessons 
You are required to take private lessons to prepare you for 
your solo performances. Private lessons are $65/hour in 
Nyack location. The number of private lessons required 
depends on the dancer’s level. 

Group Rehearsals
Group Rehearsals are $5 per hour. Attendance at rehearsals
 is important so that we can progress together as a group. 
You are expected to attend the rehearsal knowing your 
choreography!

PERFORMANCES
After training, Dance Group members will be selected by the 
director based on talent, passion for the dance, spirit of 
cooperation, eagerness to perform well and availability.

In order to perform, you have to:
* Have an approved costume for individual and group performances, 
and
* Availability to attend group rehearsals at the Nyack studio

PERFORMANCE VENUES 
You can sign up for as many or as few shows as you wish. 
Venues are generally in the tri-state area. Performances are for: 
* Haflas (which means “party” in Arabic: Belly Dance talent 
shows and studio parties); 
* Fundraisers, corporate events and private parties such as birthdays; 
* Middle eastern cafes, restaurants, clubs, lunch/dinner cruise.

PERFORMING OUTSIDE OF THE DANCE GROUP
We encourage you to perform as much as you wish as we want to see 
you grow and do not want to hold you back. We do request that you 
do not use our material or use our name without prior approval from the 
group director. 
  
COSTUMES AND PROPS
You may have to purchase, or make, matching costumes. For your solo 
performance you can pick a costume you want as long as we approve it. 
You do have to purchase your own prop if you want to do those routines.

COMPENSATION
There is no compensation for the shows. There may be free 
food/drinks/share of tips, or commission on ticket sales. 

This is subject to change as we meet our mission.

We do advertise heavily, however, and give selected dancers bookings 
outside of the group with compensation. 

GOAL OF ACHIEVEMENTS BASED ON THE TRAINING PROGRAM 
* Choreographed group performances;  
* Solo performances, choreographed or improvised, helping you to 
emphasizing your skills, and bringing out your unique expression; 
Dancing with props, such as veil, wings, zills, candles, sword or cane; 
* Performance experience.

Who are Belly Dancers?
People of all ages, sizes, races, backgrounds and professions.

Do I need dance experience to start Belly Dancing?
No. Belly Dance, and other dance experience is helpful to advance you to the next level quickly. If you don’t have any dance experience, you may need more classes.

Can I take just one class to see if I enjoy it?
Absolutely, you can join group classes any time.
