DESCRIPTION
The courses are aimed at women and men who want to deepen their knowledge of Belly Dance
and/or teach others. Each modul will focus on different aspects of Belly Dance allowing you to
develop your own dance form while gaining teaching skills. Topics will include technique, style,
musicality, and teaching methods.
CERTIFICATION
Upon successfully completing BMTS 1, 2, 3, and 4, you will receive the BAMBOOMOVES-The
SIREN™ Belly Dance Instructor Certification, and will be certified to teach
Bamboomoves Beginner/Open Level Belly Dance Classes.
YOUR TUTORS
This course was developed and is taught by Birnur Siren in collaboration with the
Bamboomoves Group. Birnur is one of most well known and respected Belly Dance
Instructors and performers in the U.S. She is originally from Turkey and has been with
the Bamboomoves for three years.

and foundation of the Art of Belly Dance is essential, as well as inspiring and motivating students
to achieve their highest potential. Our mission is to produce quality, competent teachers
trained and certified in the BMTS Format™, who will guide many others in seeking a healthy,

Introduction to the BMTS Format™
Philosophy, History, Culture & Evolution of the various styles of Belly Dance.
Uniting the Dance with the Body
Accessing your core through the breath, the perfect posture and grounding
(the basics of isolations).
Releasing energy to promote overall health.
Conceptualizing the Essence of the Art of Belly Dance
In this course you will learn the Siren’s style of dance, the philosophy of
Bamboomoves, as well as history, culture, and evolution of the various
styles of Bellydance. The key women and men who played important roles
in promoting and educating the public. There will be viewing of performances
and instructional videos of other artists. Perspective teachers will be taught
to conceptualize the essence of the Art of Bellydancing, as a source of
feminine elegance, serenity, passion, and creativity, how to promote proper
etiquette in the classroom and performance, and what it takes to become a
true professional Belly Dancer.
To unite the Dance with the Body your breath helps you find the core, which
then promotes confidence and self esteem. We will learn how to use our
breath to bring us into a zone where we connect our body, mind and soul.
Through the breath you will learn how to obtain the perfect posture and
grounding of your body by accessing your core, the basics of isolation.
Through zoning and focusing on body isolations, you will learn how to
release negative energy which will promote overall health.

BMTS 2
Certification upon completion of this course
Technique: Study of basic techniques using the Siren Method™. Emphasis is put on connecting
the moves to the essence of Body/Mind/Soul..
Music Study: Rhythms, recognition, styles and instruments.
In this course we will cover basic Belly Dance techniques using the Siren’s Format™. You will be
introduced to a variety of different Belly Dance Styles and encouraged to decide what style to
follow. You will study basic drills and combinations, choreography, improvisational technique and
the basics of owing your Dance. Emphasis will be put on connecting each move to the essence
of Body/Mind/Soul. You will gain an understanding of the Middle Eastern rhythms, their timing and
modifications and how to properly cue transitions. Visual and verbal aides will be used to explore
these rhythms. You will gain essential knowledge in how the body moves in synch to the music,
allowing you to create dynamic improvisational and choreographic pieces.

BMTS 3
Certification upon completion of this course
Teaching Technique: Combinations, transitions, improvisation and choreography
All categories of technique will be covered.
We will examine different ways of teaching a Belly Dance Level 1 Class,
and introduce the SirenMethod™.
You will learn complete vocabulary of belly dance basic moves, counts, and
breaking down a movement. You will learn how to create and teach combinations,
transitions, improvisation and choreography.
We will also examine physical and emotional benefits of individual moves;
correcting mistakes and making adjustments, stretching, warm ups and cool
downs.

Teaching Methods: BMTS Format™: Class design, lesson planning, verbal cueing, use of music,
creating & keeping the right energy in and out of the classroom.
Great Belly Dance teachers not only master the physical techniques and steps of the dance, but
they also transmit positive energy to their students. We will discuss the principals of energy, how
to accumulate and circulate energy in your body and how to transmit and maintain in and out of
the classroom.
We will look at effective teaching methods that focus on individual differences and various
learning styles. You will learn about special populations, (pregnancy, elderly, injuries and
postural defects), and their specific modifications to keep students safe; as well as dealing with
various personality types. You will gain skills for effective public speaking, how to maintain control
of a class or a disruptive student, leadership techniques and how to teach multi-level classes in a
group setting. We will discuss about student/teacher relationship and emotional detachment in
your decision making. You will learn detailed class design and lesson planning.
The Business of Teaching: Branding, advertising, and running a business.
We will discuss different venues that offer Belly Dance classes, and how to gear your curriculum to
to the venue, advertising and marketing your services as a Belly Dance Instructor. We will talk
about branding yourself as an Instructor, personal mission statement, defining your own style and
creating a nich, as well as insurance, to help each of your personal and professional goals.
We will discuss pros and cons of running your own studio. Day-to-day running of your business.
You will learn how to put together events for your students using proper communication,
leadership, advertising, and marketing skills.
Performance and Teaching Observations & Assessments: Including on-site teaching experience
and evaluations. At the end of the course, you will be required to submit your observations in
writing and discussion. You will also design and teach a class.
All courses are paid in advance and non-refundable.
