"I always loved belly dancing. It might be that drop of Turkish blood in me. Years ago, when I was healing my back from the car accident, belly dancing kept the energy flowing into not just the injured parts but it made my whole body/spirit happier and more connected. I met Birnur recently at my friend's "Snow Day Winter Goddess Party". Birnur danced for us, a small group of women, and then, in no time she had us all dancing with the jingle-belts wrapped around our hips. She inspires creativity, self-esteem, sensuality, and is filled with shakti, pure feminine expression of divine energy.
While she is getting her own space ready, I invited her to teach belly dancing in our studio. And since there is full moon this coming Wednesday, we thought that's an auspicious date to begin something new.
Hope to dance with you soon,
Petrina"
Sensuality is an integral part of any woman’s well being, confidence and beauty.
"There is something wonderful that happens when you belly dance. In Japan, they call it "Satori" – that Zen state, that zone, where your body is flowing, but your mind is quit. It's like a flower that opens, like a black-and-white photo that all of a sudden is color." Amy Anthony (Knight Ridder Newspaper by Kate Santich)
Belly Dance is a folk dance of the Middle East, North Africa and some part of Mediterranean. Belly Dance is an expessive dance, and emphasizes complex movements of the torso, and a vibrant form of feminine expression, practiced by both women and men who privilege the feminine.
BELLY DANCE AS A PERFORMING ART
Belly Dance evolved from a folk dance
into an art form throughout the centuries, and contributions of many artists who enriched it through their own
backgrounds, their passion, love,
efforts, and sweats, and all the
women and men from all over the
world who loved, cherished and
supported it. Belly Dance evolved
as any art form did, and adapted to
different settings and expectations and cultures. As it did evolve, it has become richer, spectacular, and structural.
The world's oldest dance, Belly Dance is a spiritual connection between soul, mind and body. Belly Dancing differs from other fitness programs because it offers it's practitioner a total experience of well-being, joy, freedom and most importantly, is a celebration of the feminine soul and inner spirit through movement.
